Finding your true
Okay, so before I move on to my next serious-ish post, I'm sure most of you would like to be updated on recent happenings. This is going to be a long post, so to save my fingers from agony, I will just direct you to Benjamin's blog. You can read about all the things we got up to yesterday there. Anyway, I'm sure one of the question people ask themselves the most is "What's my purpose in life?" Much as I would like to be able to give you the answer to that question, I can't. What then am I here for, you ask. Well, I'm here to teach you how to find the answer yourself. After all, everyone has one common purpose in life, and that's to find their own purpose in life. Without further ado, I present my next serious-ish post.
We are here simply because we aren't over there. - Captain Ironic on Why we are here
My life has no purpose, no direction, no aim, no meaning, and yet I am happy. I can't figure it out. What am I doing right? - Charles M. Schulz on Not yet realising he has found his purpose in life
We are the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. - Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club on Us having no purpose
My purpose in life is to live like my life depended on it, and to be painfully obvious about everything. - Captain Obvious on His purpose in life
Life is too important a subject to be talked about seriously. - Oscar Wilde on Why life should not be talked about seriously
A few days ago, while having supper with Chiang and Choon, we started talking about life. Most things about me comes in three. Like the number of levels I use to rate attractiveness of the ladies. Dead, half-decent and beyond half-decent. It's the same with life. To me, life is basically work, play and
What!? That's it!? No, of course not. I'm never one to shortchange my
Then again, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Whilst most of us aren't named Jack(saying this brings back memories), play is essential for our purpose in life. Work will inevitably lead up to stress, no matter how much you like your work. Playing is probably the best and most effective stress relieving tool there is. Getting that range of playthings which best alleviates your stress is, however much your parents may discourage it, part of your life's purpose.
Ah, love. Kurt Vonnegut puts it most aptly in Sirens Of Titans. "A purpose of a human life, no matter who controls it, is to love whoever is around to be loved." That means loving your family, your friends, and of course reserving that special love for that one special person. For more information on finding that one special person, read this.
So, now you don't need anybody giving you some whacked answer on what's your purpose in life. You can go and find it out for yourself, and for once, you actually have some idea on what to look out for. Remember, your purpose in life is for you, not others, to find. Also, on a side note, porpoises are not dolphins!
