Bold, brave, fearless, unafraid, etc.
Drawing out courage without the use of crayons. Seriously.
Okay, I think my transition from being nonsensical to being serious has been going quite smoothly. Heck, I've enjoyed doing them serious posts. Now, you might have noticed that the serious posts contain nonsense, but the reason they are termed "serious" is because they are not based around the nonsense. The nonsense is just there to make sure people don't die of boredom reading my posts. I mean come on, would you read a completely serious post about global warming? I think not. Anyway, now that it has been cleared up, on to my next serious-ish post!
If only I had enough courage to dare be a coward. - Captain Ironic on Not having enough courage
People tend to describe me as yellow-bellied when they see me, but the truth is that Piglet's the real coward among us. - Winnie The Pooh on Being accused of cowardice
I've had it with these motherf**king cowards on this motherf**king World! - Samuel L. Jackson on being fed up with cowards.
True courage, is being the only one who knows you are scared shitless. - Oscar Wilde on True courage
Courage is the art of being brave. - Captain Obvious on Courage
Okay, I'm sure there have always been some point in your life when you wished you had been brave enough to do something. Whether it was confessing your love to someone, wearing a really weird outfit for the fun of it, or even just trying an exotic dish. You curse yourself for lacking courage, but when the next time something which requires bravery pops up at you again, you chicken out. So what am I trying to get at here? Well, basically I'm here to try and give you some pointers on drawing out the inner Braveheart in all of you.
Some of you might think that we as humans can just get by living life cautiously, so what do we need courage for? Well, as one of the dinner mats(you know the kind with these weird fortune-cookie-esque quotes on it) on my dining table points out to me, life is like milk. You will never have it full if you just skim through it. Even for the Buddhists, it isn't guaranteed that you will reincarnate to be a human in your next life, so living this one to the fullest is essential. And, in order to do so, you will need the courage to experience everything you can. So now that the importance of courage has been explained, let's move on to how to draw it out.
Step one when approaching something courage-challenging is to breathe. Not breathing will most definitely lead to loss of consciousness, and sometimes even death. Have you ever seen an unconscious or a dead person being brave? I doubt so. Breathing normally will actually help you assess the situation better, and you will be able to deal with whatever risks that are involved, hence eliminating some of the fear you may have of the risks.
Next, the one important word to draw out courage, is "faith". Now, this is not to tell you to go out and get supposedly enchanted talismans in hope of attaining superpowers. Faith simply means to believe. What exactly should you believe in then? The answer is simple as well. Yourself. Having faith in yourself automatically bestows upon you an advantage over whatever the task in question is.
Lastly, do not be hesitant. Hesitancy kills courage like how Fat Man killed the Japanese. It wipes out a whole lot of your courage, then slowly spreads its damaging cancer-like influence. Stay hesitant long enough, and your courage to do something gets eradicated just like that. Once you've set your sights on something, get about it sharpish. Strike while the iron's hot they say. Now while some may say that this causes you to make rash decisions, but what's so good about living a well planned out life? Live for the moment I say.
Now that I've taught you the ways of turning your squeak to a roar, get out there and start roaring. Well, figuratively at least. Unless of course you have some warped idea about roaring in the middle of Orchard, in which case, I say go for it!
We as humans are unique in our own ways. While these tips do work in general, results may vary from person to person. If you feel compelled to hunt me down after wetting yourself trying to do something daring even having read this post. Don't. You probably don't have the balls to kill me anyway.
